Clinical Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant Program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions as a clinical medical assistant in a variety of health care settings. Students study the structure and function of the major body systems in conjunction with medical terminology, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, specimen collections, minor surgical procedures, CPR and Emergency procedures, Blood draw and therapeutic administration and injections.

Course Objectives:

  • Medical Terminology.
  • Anthropometric measurements – Vital Signs.
  • Specimen Collection and processing.
  • Pharmacology & Surgical Procedures.
  • Patient assistance and education.
  • EKG & Phlebotomy Cardiopulmonary and Electrocardiography
  • Endocrinology, Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Clinical externship.

Students will also transition into an externship portion of the program to gain the training in a real setting inside a medical office.

 In recent years, the Clinical Medical Assisting profession has become indispensable to the health care field. Physicians have become more reliant on medical assistants for their back-office skills, and their services are being sought by medical offices, clinics, hospitals, urgent care centers, medical supply businesses, home health agencies, and pharmaceutical companies. This certificate program prepares graduates to fill entry-level positions such as clinical Medical Assistant.
